Bamboo rice has a striking resemblance to paddy rice and tastes more like wheat. Slightly sweet in taste and generally cooked like any other rice, bamboo rice makes a great combination with any normal food that we consume. The difference lies in its texture when cooked, which is mostly moist and sticky.

This traditional rice variety is best for lunch and alternative for regular white polished rice. The word ‘Thangam’ in Tamil means Gold. Since the matured grains are golden in colour the variety is known as thanga samba.

Thooyamalli, a traditional rice variety, gets its name from its striking resemblance of jasmine buds. Thooyamalli is healthy and tasty rice which increases nerve strength and is suitable for the preparation of biriyani.
